With a same-day shipping guarantee, they needed a fast, compact, and highly organized picking system.
Before installing the Ferretto VLM, the company used bins stacked on low racks across multiple areas of the warehouse, leading to clutter and inefficiency. Many of the bins, such as 16” x 17” x 11” or 26” x 22” x 6” bread bins, were stacked three high, occupying valuable space but underutilizing the 25-foot ceiling height. This low, short rack system wasted vertical space, resulting in long pick times and a disorganized warehouse. Workers had to move between areas to search for items stored across different racks, making the picking process cumbersome, time-consuming, and difficult to meet tight order fulfillment deadlines.
